myTransit gives you easy access to the Chicago Transit Authority’s real time tracking system (CTATracker) from any iPhone or iPod Touch with network access. With myTransit you can quickly find out when your bus will be arriving to any stop you choose.

To track a bus in real time simply touch the bus you want to see and you will see the next four stops that bus is making along with the buses progress on a map. The buss movement will automatically refresh every 60 seconds.

Features:
• For any bus stop see what buses will be arriving
• Track the bus in real time on a built in map
• Lookup any stop by route
• Mark any bus stop as a “favorite” allowing you to quickly access
• Search through all CTA bus stops by word, letter or number
• Map the stops closest to you and scroll/zoom the map to find more stops
• See the map location of any bus stop

Pros and cons of myTransit - CTA app for iPhone and iPad

myTransit - CTA app good for

I wish every city had this app. I would ride the bus so much more. No more guessing
Great app. I wish it was a little faster and easier to know what bus you are looking for. Also they should allow you to search by name not just bus number.
I use this app every day. It is the best app for tracking the CTA, it gives you all the info needed, and is easy to navigate. The only features keeping it from 5 stars is Push notifications for an upcoming bus alarm, as well as the ability to remember favorite stops for a bookmarked destination time.
I use this app everyday and find it very convenient. Havent missed a bus yet or had to stay waiting long!
Very well done and its free.but it doesnt work all the time it all ways says no bus comming
I love this app! Works everytime. My favorites pop up when I open the app, click on the stop I need, and Im there. Click on the next bus and you can see its progress. Thanks!

Some bad moments

Seems like a lot of routes have problems displaying 2 way bus traffic, so for ex. You only will see north bound buses and no south bound etc. Buster seems to work more smoothly.
Worthless. Worthless. Worthless. Basically, a good start but way behind the times. Do not spent anything in this app. It operates like the CTA itself: slow as &$"@. The info might be useful when you get it but it takes forever to update the map. Youre better off guessing like the good old days. F THE CTA.
This app does not work. The only reason I purchased it was because the website doesnt function properly on my phone, I assumed the app itself would have bugs worked out. I am only able to choose my bus number, but not the direction or the stop. The app does not advance to give me the arrival times. This app is no different from the FREE tracker online. Dont bother.
The 3.5 app still lists express routes, most of which were removed from service quite a while ago. It also has a tendency to freak out when the map feature is selected but location services are off. It seems to get stuck in an error popup loop for a few seconds. On my 3GS the map takes a while to populate with the stops, it seems as though the phone freezes. Not good.
If you live in Chicago and know the public transportation system well this app might be a handy tool. If you dont know the city at all this app us useless. It also does not have info on the El trains, subway, or Metra trains. It only has info on buses that is mashed together in a confusing way. Save your money.
Youre better off pulling up the CTA tracker from the CTA website for free.
